Reframe

includes OCN NI Level 3 Cultural Diversity (accreditation pending)

This skill-based programme equips people with the tools for effective living within a culturally diverse society. It addresses the following:

  • Is our community changing?
  • If so in what ways?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities we face?
  • How can we respond?

This 30 hour course, based on Christian values, explores ways of reframing how we look at the world in order to be more effective in welcoming foreign nationals into our communities or alternatively to prepare young people/adults to work in other cultures overseas.

Topics covered include:

  • Discovering my frame: How do I relate to my community?  This enables participants to learn how they view the world and the values they hold.
  • Challenging our frame: This encourages participants to ask questions about how they view the world. This creates a healthy self-evaluation process encouraging a journey of self-discovery and development.
  • Interacting with other frames: Communicating with people with a different cultural background. Resolving conflict between people with different ‘frames'. Dialogue with people with a different worldview.
